How to Compress Video for Discord
Discord has strict file size limits for uploads: 8MB for free users and 50MB for Nitro subscribers. If your video exceeds these limits, you need to compress it. AVMint makes this easy with built-in Discord presets.
Upload your video
Open AVMint's Video Compress tool and drag & drop your video file, or click to select it from your device. AVMint supports MP4, MOV, WebM, AVI, and MKV formats.
Select the Discord preset
Choose the target size that matches your Discord plan: 8MB for free accounts, 25MB for basic, or 50MB for Nitro. AVMint automatically calculates the optimal bitrate.
Compress and download
Click the Compress button. AVMint processes the video entirely in your browser — no upload to any server. Once done, download your compressed video and share it on Discord.
Tip
For best results, lower the resolution to 720p in Advanced Settings. This significantly reduces file size with minimal quality loss.
FAQ
Will the video quality be noticeably worse?
It depends on the original size and target. Compressing a 500MB video to 8MB will show noticeable quality loss. For less aggressive compression (e.g., 100MB to 50MB), the difference is minimal.
Can I compress a video longer than 10 minutes for Discord?
Yes, but longer videos compressed to 8MB will have lower quality. Consider using Nitro (50MB limit) or trimming the video first.
