Convert iPhone Video to MP4 (HEVC → H.264) — Free, In Browser

iPhones default to HEVC (H.265) video inside a .MOV container. It saves space but often won't play on Android, older Windows machines, or in editors without extra codec packs. AVMint converts iPhone HEVC footage to standard H.264 MP4 entirely in your browser.

1

Transfer your iPhone video

AirDrop, email, or USB the .MOV file to your computer. Or open mobile Safari directly on the iPhone — AVMint works there too.

2

Drop it into AVMint Convert

Open AVMint's Convert tool and drop the .MOV file. AVMint detects HEVC automatically and shows MP4 as the recommended output.

3

Convert to MP4 (H.264)

Click Convert. AVMint re-encodes the video stream from HEVC to H.264 and rewrites the container to .mp4, keeping the audio and frame rate. Download the result and it plays everywhere.

Tip

If file size matters, run the result through AVMint Compress after converting. H.264 is roughly 2x less efficient than HEVC, so the MP4 will be bigger than the original .MOV unless you compress it down.

FAQ

Can I keep the HEVC codec but change the container to .mp4?

Yes — HEVC-in-MP4 is valid and plays on many devices. But Android and older Windows machines still struggle with it. For universal playback, re-encode to H.264.

Will converting HEVC to H.264 reduce quality?

There's a small generation loss from re-encoding, but AVMint uses high-quality defaults so the visual difference is minimal on typical phone footage.
